Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

    1. Schedule a free 20-minute consult call. During this call, we’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, address any questions, and decide if we're a good fit.

    2. Schedule an initial assessment session. If you'd like to move forward, this session will set the foundation for our work together. It will also help determine the therapy service that would best meet your needs if you're unsure.

    3. Show up fully to your therapy session! Together, we’ll work towards the changes you are seeking.

  • Yes, as long as you are physically located within New York or New Jersey during therapy sessions or intensives, you can work with me regardless of where you reside. This applies to both teletherapy and in-person sessions. My office for in-person sessions is conveniently located in downtown Brooklyn at 26 Court Street.

  • The duration of therapy varies depending on your goals, needs, and the type of work we're doing. For ongoing therapy, some clients may see progress in a few sessions, while others may choose to work together longer.

Therapy intensives offer a focused approach, often addressing specific areas in a shorter timeframe. We'll discuss the best options for you during the initial assessment and continue to check in regularly about your progress.

  • Progress can look different for each person and depends on the type of therapy you're engaging in. For ongoing therapy, we’ll regularly assess your goals and reflect on the changes you’re experiencing.

In intensives, progress might feel more immediate, as we focus deeply on specific areas of healing. Therapy is always a collaborative process, so if you ever feel unsure, we can discuss your experience and make any adjustments needed to ensure the work aligns with your goals.

Therapy & Services

  • Yes, I work with people from all backgrounds and identities, as long as we both feel it’s a good therapeutic fit! My expertise in working with specific communities doesn't mean I exclude anyone. The most important factor is whether we’re a good match.

  • While I have worked with children and families for over a decade, my practice is not currently set up to accommodate children and their families. If you'd like to be notified when my practice can accept children again, feel free to subscribe to my newsletter for updates.

  • Intensives are focused, in-depth therapy sessions, typically lasting several hours, where we dive deeply into specific areas of healing. They can be an effective way to address significant issues or gain momentum in a shorter time frame.

Intensives are ideal for people looking for deeper work, greater focus, or a therapeutic boost alongside ongoing therapy. The length of an intensive can vary, and we’ll tailor it to your unique needs. Let me know if you’re interested, and we can discuss how an intensive might work for you. • Yes! Intensives, in particular, can be a great supplement to ongoing therapy. I'm happy to communicate and collaborate with your existing therapist or care providers as needed.

  • No, I do not prescribe medication. Psychotherapy is distinct from psychiatric care. Medication can only be prescribed by psychiatrists, primary care physicians, or psychiatric nurse practitioners.

Payment & Policies

  • You can find my fees listed on the Services page.

Pricing for my Intensives are listed on the Intensives page.

  • I primarily work with private pay clients to provide therapy that’s fully tailored to your unique needs. Insurance requires a formal diagnosis, which becomes part of your medical record. This can affect confidentiality, future opportunities, and legal proceedings. Additionally, insurance can limit session length, frequency, and the therapeutic methods used, often excluding newer, effective approaches like Brainspotting.

By working outside the constraints of insurance, I can provide fully personalized, liberating care focused entirely on your healing. That said, I am in-network with some insurances for accessibility purposes. Learn more about how insurance works.

  • Yes, I offer a trust-based sliding scale for services that are not covered by insurance Get the full details of the sliding scale here.

Sliding scale slots are limited and competitive, so I can’t always guarantee availability, but please don't hesitate to inquire if this is something you need.

Additionally, I provide services to recipients of the following Therapy Funds:

  • I accept all major credit cards, cash, check, and Health Savings Account (HSA)/ Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards. It is your responsibility to check with your account administrator to confirm that the therapy service qualifies for reimbursement. Please note that HSA/FSA cards cannot be used for missed visits or cancellation fees.

  • I understand that life happens! I request a 48-hour notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Cancellations within 48 hours are subject to a fee, as the time has already been reserved for you. You can view my full policies here.
