Therapy Intensives for Healing the Impact of Oppression
Support for those carrying the invisible wounds of marginalization, internalized shame, and nervous system distress from systemic harm.
Heal from the weight you've carried for too long
Living under the weight of oppression—whether racial, gendered, class-based, or rooted in queerphobia, transphobia, ableism, or other forms of marginalization—can leave profound imprints on your body, your voice, your sense of worth.
When the world has questioned your identity, distorted your truth, or made your belonging conditional, it’s not just something you “get over.”
You may carry invisible burdens:
– a harsh inner critic that won’t let you rest
– a pattern of self-silencing in moments that matter most
– the instinct to freeze, fawn, or disappear in the face of microaggressions
– a quiet grief for parts of yourself that were never allowed to fully emerge
This pain lives not only in your thoughts but in your nervous system, your posture, your breath.
Therapy intensives offer a focused, compassionate space to turn toward what’s been exiled, held in, or armored over. To listen deeply to what your body has carried. To begin unbinding your identity from systems that were never built to see your full humanity.
What Is a Therapy Intensive for Healing the Impact of Oppression?
An intensive is an extended session—90 minutes to a full day—that allows space to go deeper than traditional therapy often permits. There’s time to slow down, drop into the body, and follow what’s ready to unfold, without rushing or cutting it short.
You don’t have to minimize or translate your experience here. You can speak the unspeakable—or sit in silence. You can shake, cry, rage, breathe, remember. There’s room.
We’ll work with an integrative, trauma-responsive approach tailored to your needs, which may include:
Liberatory framework that names systemic oppression as part of the healing context, making space to heal internalized oppression and shame related to race, gender, sexuality, class, neurodivergence, and more
Somatic healing for freeze, dissociation, and nervous system dysregulation
Parts work to tend to wounded, silenced, or protective inner voices
Brainspotting to access and process trauma and grief beneath the surface
Expressive and embodied therapies like drama therapy, ritual, and arts-based expression to engage healing through metaphor and embodiment
Welcoming traditional, ancestral, or culturally-rooted healing practices, if they’re part of your lineage or personal path
This is a space where your pain is not pathologized, and your survival strategies are seen as wisdom.
Who Is This For?
These intensives are for people who:
Feel the impact of chronic microaggressions, invisibility, or marginalization on their nervous system and self-worth
Carry internalized messages of not being “enough” or “too much” because of their race, gender, sexuality, class, body, or neurotype
Find themselves self-silencing, overachieving, or shrinking in relationships, workplaces, or communities
Long for a healing space where they don’t have to explain or justify their identities
Are ready to move beyond coping toward deeper integration, self-trust, and liberation
May not want or need ongoing weekly therapy, but desire a powerful, focused healing experience
Reside in or can travel to New York or New Jersey, with options for virtual or in-person (Brooklyn) sessions
What Happens in an Oppression Healing Intensive?
Each intensive is co-created based on your needs, readiness, and goals. A session may include:
Grounding and orienting your nervous system for safety and presence
Exploring internalized messages and connecting with protective or wounded parts
Processing pain, shame, or freeze responses through Brainspotting and somatic techniques
Engaging in expressive or symbolic practices (e.g., role-play, movement, ritual, or creative arts) to externalize and transform painful narratives
Practicing voice, boundaries, and choice in a supported space
Closing with integration tools, reflection, and care planning
